It’s Always Morning with God

Cup of hot drink on the table

“even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.” Psalm 139:12 ESV

Linking up this week for five-minute Friday: Here

Sleep has been calling my name. Especially in the morning when I need to get up and go to work. I hit the snooze button way too many times in this season. It seems all I want to do is sleep.

Darkness not only makes me sleepy, but it makes me sluggish. I struggle to do my chores or my work assignments and my feet feel as if I am lugging around concrete blocks.

Daylight Saving Time will end Sunday, November 7th and I am exciting to help usher him to the door. I need more sunlight in my life.

The purpose of DST is to prolong evening light during the summer. It was invented to help farmers who needed more daylight to get their work done. Well, I am not a farmer!

Funny thing is God cannot relate to my DST side effects. Psalm 139:12 tells us darkness isn’t dark to him. Midnight is just as bright as noon. Why because he is the light of the world. (I John 1:5 RSV)

I’m glad Daylight-Saving Time is near its end but I’m happier that with God there is no darkness at all. He never gets sleepy. (Psalm 121:4) He is always bright and alert for a conversation with me, a warm fuzzy hug or to come look under the bed when I think I hear a monster.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for being my bright and morning start. Thank you that there is no darkness with you. Even when I am struggling to stay awake and feeling sluggish, I can always find hope in you. Your word says, arise and shine for your light has come. You are my ever burning light. Amen!

Question to ponder: Which time zone do you live in? Do you struggle with the transition of daylight savings time when mornings are darker? Do you know what it is like to bask in the light of God?

Hi, I'm Calvonia. I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm a small town girl with old school ways. So come on in, share of cup of hot tea and a real conversation. I've shared my life with my husband, lover and friend, Moses for most of my adult life. Our union has been blessed with three children a couple of in-loves and a few grandchildren. We are so blessed. I love God more than words can articulate and sharing his word and his love with my sisters literally makes me smile. Enough about me, let's talk about Jesus!

  1. I’m in the Central Time Zone and not looking forward to the shorter days. I like more daylight after work! Thanks for sharing! Visiting from FMF #39 this week.
