Sometimes you need to STAND OUT!

Stand-Out

I’m joining #FiveMinuteFriday over at Kate Motaung’s place. The word prompt is HIDDEN. Below is five minutes of free flowing writing. The forward slashes indicate where the timer started and ended. Go!

I loved to play Hide and Seek when I was a child.  It was a group activity where everyone did the same thing; hide or seek.  The hiders were the majority.  I loved that game because I never had to stick out in the crowd.

There was no requirement for me to hit a baseball flying towards me at 5 mile an hour or kick a rolling ball or aim at something and  throw it into a small hole way above my head.  I could hide.  And, I could hide well!

I find myself doing that in the real world sometimes.  Hiding, that is.  It’s so much easier than standing out.  I can keep silent rather than speaking or sit rather than stand.  I’m great at driving into my garage and letting the door down never to appear again until morning. Hiding!

There are times when I need to STAND OUT.

Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.  Matthew 28:19-20

I’ve been called to STAND OUT and win the lost,

STAND OUT and disciple,

STAND OUT and encourage those along the way.

Daily, I’m commanded to STAND OUT to fight against the wiles of the devil.

So today, I choose not to HIDE!

I choose to STAND OUT!

Hi, I'm Calvonia. I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm a small town girl with old school ways. So come on in, share of cup of hot tea and a real conversation. I've shared my life with my husband, lover and friend, Moses for most of my adult life. Our union has been blessed with three children a couple of in-loves and a few grandchildren. We are so blessed. I love God more than words can articulate and sharing his word and his love with my sisters literally makes me smile. Enough about me, let's talk about Jesus!

  1. I enjoyed reading your reflections here. It is easier to hide sometimes- I am pretty good at doing that to. But as you say God calls us to be willing to stand out from the crowd and make a difference for him. Visiting from FMF.
